Our top three robot vacuum cleaners

Check dispatch before ordering: the Saros 10R store accepts orders but lists pre-order availability; ECOVACS also marks the X11 PRO OMNI as pre-order. Dreame offers the X50 Ultra for ordering. Prices, dispatch estimates and delivery availability can change.

Roborock Saros 10R
A practical combination of slim clearance, obstacle recognition and automatic mop removal for mixed floors. Its A$1,499 price is appealing, but confirm the pre-order dispatch date.
The best robot vacuum is the one that suits your floors and removes the maintenance jobs you dislike most. A higher suction number cannot tell you whether a machine will fit under the sofa, cross a doorway or keep wet mops off a thick rug.
Our overall recommendation is the Roborock Saros 10R. Choose the Dreame X50 Ultra when a difficult layout justifies its premium. Consider the ECOVACS DEEBOT X11 PRO OMNI when roller mopping is the priority and its pre-order timing suits you.
You do not need a flagship simply to collect daily crumbs and dust. A simpler mapped robot or auto-empty model may be enough. The important decision is whether automated mop care is worth the extra price, space and water-tank maintenance in your home.

How we chose
This is a research-led buying guide, not a laboratory ranking. We have not personally tested every model, timed their cleaning or measured carpet pickup. Recommendations draw on Australian product information, listed offers and the practical differences between cleaning systems.
We prioritised navigation, furniture clearance, carpet protection, hair management, dock functions and ongoing maintenance. Manufacturer suction and climbing figures are specifications under stated conditions, not directly comparable real-world scores.
Exact purchasable Amazon Australia and eBay Australia offers could not be verified during this check. The three purchase buttons therefore lead to the Australian brand stores. No marketplace search-result links or substitute models are used.
1. Roborock Saros 10R

Slim design and removable mops for mixed floors.
The Saros 10R remains our overall pick for a home with hard-floor living areas, rugs and carpeted bedrooms. The practical attraction is its combination of a low body, obstacle recognition and automatic mop detachment. This is our assessment of its published features, not a claim that we have measured its cleaning performance.
Its approximately 7.98cm height helps it reach beneath suitable furniture without a fixed laser tower getting in the way. StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 uses 3D time-of-flight sensing and a camera. Anti-tangle main and side-brush designs address the recurring job of removing wrapped hair.
The spinning pads can be detached for appropriate vacuum-only and carpet routines. The dock empties dust, washes and dries the pads and refills the robot. You still have to manage water, bags, brushes and the dock tray.
For mixed floors, we would prioritise those everyday functions over a higher suction figure. Before purchase, measure furniture clearance and check the operating instructions for the carpet routine you intend to use.
Reasons to choose it
- Low body for access beneath suitable furniture.
- Automatic mop removal separates wet pads from carpet runs.
- Dock handles dust disposal and mop washing and drying.
Reasons to reconsider
- Camera-based recognition introduces privacy considerations.
- The dock and water tanks still need regular attention.
- The store lists pre-order availability; confirm dispatch.
Best for: Mixed-floor homes where low furniture and carpet-safe cleaning routines matter.
Listed price: A$1,499. The store accepts orders, but its comparison table identifies the Saros 10R as pre-order. Confirm the dispatch date before paying; an Add to Cart button does not establish immediate stock.
2. Dreame X50 Ultra

Retractable navigation and specialist threshold handling.
The X50 Ultra is the specialist choice when floor transitions or low furniture are the main obstacles to automation. Dreame’s ProLeap system is designed to negotiate difficult thresholds, while VersaLift retracts the navigation sensor for low-clearance areas.
Check your actual threshold against the manufacturer’s conditions. A maximum climbing claim is not a promise that every vertical ledge, narrow track or slippery transition will work. Photograph and measure the obstacle before asking the supplier about suitability.
Dreame lists a detangling dual-brush system, extending mop hardware, removable mops for carpet cleaning and 20,000Pa maximum suction. The automated station reduces dust and mop maintenance. These are manufacturer features, not independent evidence that it cleans better than every lower-priced rival.
At the checked price, it costs twice as much as the Saros 10R. We would only spend the difference when the layout creates a specific problem the Dreame can address. For a straightforward flat home, the extra cost is harder to justify.
Reasons to choose it
- Specialist hardware for difficult floor transitions.
- Retractable navigation sensor for suitable low spaces.
- Detangling brushes and removable carpet-run mops.
Reasons to reconsider
- A substantial premium over the other two picks.
- Threshold performance depends on the exact obstacle.
- Large dock and multiple components to maintain.
Best for: Homes with measured transition or clearance problems that justify specialist hardware.
Listed price: A$2,999. Dreame’s Australian listing offered Add to Cart. Check delivery to your postcode and the exact supplied kit. Do not assume an overseas plumbing accessory is included.
3. ECOVACS DEEBOT X11 PRO OMNI

Active roller mopping at a lower price; pre-order.
The X11 PRO OMNI is the strongest roller-mopping value in our leading three at the checked price, provided you can wait for the advertised pre-order. It suits homes where sealed hard floors make frequent mopping more important than specialist threshold handling.
Its OZMO ROLLER 2.0 receives fresh water while cleaning. ECOVACS lists a 200rpm roller, 19,500Pa suction, hot-water washing and warm-air drying at the station. The dock also handles dust emptying and water management.
PowerBoost provides short charging top-ups during returns to the station. That may help large cleaning schedules, but we have not measured coverage or compared cleaning times. Do not read the manufacturer’s extreme-area claims as a guarantee for your home.
The PRO OMNI is the bagged model. The differently named OmniCyclone uses a different dust-disposal arrangement, so match the full name before comparing prices. A roller, scraper and water system still need cleaning even when the station automates routine washing.
Reasons to choose it
- Continuously refreshed roller for frequent hard-floor mopping.
- Lower checked price than the other two leading picks.
- Station combines dust disposal and mop care.
Reasons to reconsider
- Currently sold as a pre-order.
- Roller and dirty-water components need maintenance.
- Advanced mopping does not establish superior carpet pickup.
Best for: Mostly sealed hard-floor homes that prioritise roller mopping and can wait for dispatch.
Listed price: A$1,299. ECOVACS labels this offer Pre-Order and estimates dispatch in about a week. Treat that as a seller estimate and reconfirm it at checkout. The price is for the PRO OMNI, not an accessory bundle or OmniCyclone.
Another hard-floor option: eufy Omni E25
The eufy Robot Vacuum Omni E25 remains an alternative for hard-floor homes. Its HydroJet system refreshes the roller during cleaning, while the station handles dust disposal, mop washing and drying. eufy also lists detangling brushes and an extending corner-cleaning arm.
The Australian store currently lists A$1,799.95 for the standalone E25 package. At that price, we would compare it carefully with the less expensive Saros 10R and X11 PRO OMNI rather than assume it is the value choice. Their dispatch timing may affect the decision.
Choose it if its particular cleaning arrangement suits your home and the complete offer makes sense. Confirm flooring compatibility, consumable prices and the exact bundle before ordering. We have not established that its carpet performance or obstacle recognition is better than the leading three.
eufy Australia: Omni E25 product and current offer
What happened to the cheaper picks?
The earlier draft included the Dreame D20 Pro Plus and ECOVACS DEEBOT N20 at substantial sale prices. We could not confirm those exact Australian purchase offers during this update, so those old prices are not presented as current recommendations. That does not establish that the models are discontinued or unavailable everywhere.
If your budget is lower, look for a mapped vacuum with local support and, if affordable, automatic dust emptying. Do not stretch to one of these premium models merely because it appears in the top cards. A basic mop cloth is useful for light wiping, but should not be priced as equivalent to an actively washed roller or spinning-pad system.
Which robot vacuum should you buy?
| Your main need | Starting point | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Mixed floors and low furniture | Roborock Saros 10R | Furniture clearance, carpet routine and dispatch date. |
| Difficult room transitions | Dreame X50 Ultra | Exact obstacle shape and manufacturer conditions. |
| Frequent sealed hard-floor mopping | ECOVACS X11 PRO OMNI | Pre-order timing and water-system maintenance. |
| Simple daily dust and crumbs | A lower-cost mapped vacuum may be enough | Local stock, spare parts and onboard-bin capacity. |
| Less contact with collected debris | An auto-empty station | Bag or container design and replacement cost. |
Start with your floor mix
In a mostly hard-floor home, frequent automated mopping can be more valuable than maximum suction. In a carpet-heavy home, prioritise brush contact, hair management and keeping wet pads away from carpet. A machine that needs manual mop removal may still be useful, but it requires a different routine.
Check each rug separately. Thick pile, fringes and lightweight mats can create problems that the main floor does not. Use the model’s supported no-go or no-mop settings where appropriate, and observe its first runs rather than assuming a mapped room is automatically safe.
For timber, vinyl, laminate or other moisture-sensitive surfaces, follow the flooring manufacturer’s cleaning instructions. A robot’s hard-floor mode does not override a restriction on damp mopping. Use only a cleaning solution approved for both the appliance and surface.
Choose the dock by the job it removes
A charge-only dock keeps the footprint and purchase cost down. You still empty the small onboard bin and care for any mop cloth. This may be perfectly acceptable in a small, uncluttered apartment.
An auto-empty dock transfers dry debris into a bag or container. For many households, that is the most valuable convenience because it reduces frequent handling of dust and hair. Confirm how the station itself is emptied and what replacement bags cost.
An all-in-one station adds mop washing, drying and water replenishment. It can remove more daily effort, but replaces it with tanks, trays and rollers that need periodic attention. Think about where you will carry dirty water and refill clean water before paying for the larger dock.
Measure the robot, dock and thresholds
- Furniture: measure the lowest clearance, including trim or a sagging sofa underside.
- Doorways: record each threshold’s height, shape, width and surface.
- Dock position: follow the exact model’s side, front and overhead clearances.
- Tank access: allow enough space to remove and carry tanks without tilting them awkwardly.
- Power and Wi-Fi: choose a level, accessible position that meets the setup instructions.
Do not rely on a dock’s cabinet dimensions alone. The robot needs an approach path, and the user needs room to service it. Nor should a maximum climbing claim be interpreted as stair-climbing ability: ordinary domestic robot vacuums still need to be carried between floors.
Pet hair and obstacle avoidance
An anti-tangle brush can reduce hair wrapping, but it does not remove the need to inspect the brush ends, wheels and side brush. Start with frequent checks and adjust the routine to the amount of hair your household produces.
Clear cables, socks, small toys and pet accidents before a scheduled run. Camera and 3D sensing can help identify clutter, but neither should be treated as infallible. A robot that spreads one pet accident creates more work than a week of automated cleaning saves.
Pets may also react to the robot or the sudden noise of an emptying cycle. Supervise the first runs and choose a schedule that suits the household. Keep feeding areas and fragile objects out of the cleaning path where necessary.
Suction figures do not rank cleaning quality
Maximum pressure is only part of vacuum performance. The main brush must engage the surface and move debris into the airflow; the robot must also reach the area and spend enough time cleaning it.
Manufacturers may use different test conditions for their headline figures. Do not assume that one model’s larger Pa number proves better carpet pickup, quieter operation or fewer repeat passes. Treat it as a specification alongside the rest of the design.
For your own first-week check, use the normal debris and rooms you actually have. Look beneath chairs, beside skirting boards and around rugs. Then adjust the schedule and room settings before concluding that maximum power is always necessary.
Mop lifting, detachment and separate routines
Lifting a wet mop creates clearance, but the amount needed depends on the carpet. A short firm mat and a thick rug are different obstacles. Check the manufacturer’s supported carpet strategy and do not infer suitability from the lift height alone.
Automatic mop detachment offers a useful option for vacuum-focused runs. Where a robot lacks it, separate vacuuming and mopping sessions may require manual cloth removal. Decide whether you are willing to do that before buying.
Vacuuming loose debris first can make a mopping routine more sensible. Use the options supported by the exact model, and keep heavily soiled spills outside the robot’s workload unless its instructions expressly permit them.
The maintenance you still have to do
- Empty and rinse dirty-water tanks before odours develop, following the manual.
- Keep clean-water supplies and any approved detergent topped up.
- Inspect brushes, wheels and accessible hair traps.
- Clean sensors and charging contacts as directed.
- Remove debris from the dock tray, roller or mop-washing area.
- Replace bags, filters, pads and worn brushes when required.
- Allow washable components to dry fully before refitting where instructed.
Do not wash an electrical component or filter merely because a similar part on another model is washable. Follow the exact care instructions. The aim is a repeatable routine that keeps the robot ready, not a claim of maintenance-free cleaning.
Running costs and local support
Before ordering, look up the exact bags, filters, main brush, side brush and mop replacements. Check that they fit the model in the basket, particularly when a brand uses very similar names across generations.
Compare consumable cost over a realistic ownership period instead of looking only at the purchase discount. A large supply bundle is useful only if it contains parts you will use and remains cheaper than buying them separately.
For an imported offer, verify the Australian power arrangement, seller identity, service process and returns terms. Keep the invoice and model details. An unusually cheap listing with unclear support deserves more scrutiny than a straightforward local offer.
App access and privacy
A connected robot may use an account, a room map and cloud services. Camera-equipped models introduce additional considerations, particularly where remote viewing is available. Read the exact model’s privacy information and available settings before purchase.
Use a unique password, enable additional account protection where offered and install supported firmware updates. Disable remote-viewing functions you do not need. Check what basic cleaning functions remain available without the app if that matters to you.
Also confirm the supported Wi-Fi setup. A phone being connected to a fast network does not establish that a robot supports the same band or authentication method. Follow the pairing instructions for the specific model.
Setting up the first week
- Read the manual and position the station with the required clearances.
- Remove loose cords, delicate objects and unsuitable floor coverings.
- Complete the initial mapping process with relevant doors open.
- Check room boundaries and add permitted exclusion zones.
- Observe the first vacuum and mop runs, especially at carpets and thresholds.
- Adjust one setting at a time and check the result.
- Establish a maintenance schedule for tanks, brushes and filters.
A robot does not need to clean every room at the same frequency. A kitchen or entryway may need more attention than a spare bedroom. Set the schedule around actual dirt, noise tolerance and access.
Common buying mistakes
- Buying only by suction: navigation and brush design affect the result too.
- Ignoring the dock: check both installation and servicing space.
- Confusing models: PRO OMNI, OmniCyclone and accessory bundles are different offers.
- Expecting no maintenance: automated mop care still leaves water and debris to manage.
- Trusting obstacle detection blindly: clear pet accidents and loose cables yourself.
- Treating pre-order as immediate stock: obtain a realistic dispatch estimate.
- Paying for unused mopping: a carpet-focused home may benefit more from a simpler vacuum setup.
Frequently asked questions
Can a robot replace a normal vacuum?
Usually not completely. You still need a suitable tool for stairs, upholstery, skirting boards and areas the robot cannot reach. Its main benefit is frequent routine floor cleaning.
Are robot mops worth paying for?
They can be on suitable sealed hard floors when used regularly. A basic drag cloth and an actively washed roller do different jobs. Neither should be assumed to replace every manual clean or handle every spill.
Which of these is the value choice?
The X11 PRO OMNI has the lowest checked price of the top three and is appealing for roller mopping. The Saros 10R costs more but is our preferred overall balance for mixed floors. Both require dispatch confirmation.
Should I spend A$2,999 on the X50 Ultra?
Only if its specialist mobility or clearance features solve a real problem. For a straightforward home, we would first compare the cheaper options and keep the saving.
Can these robots clean several storeys?
Check the exact multi-map instructions. The robot still needs carrying between levels, and water or dock-dependent functions may be limited away from its station. None is a stair-cleaning solution.
How often should it run?
Start with a schedule that matches household traffic and pets, then inspect the result. Busy areas may benefit from daily cleaning; quiet rooms may need less. Maintenance and suitable settings matter as much as frequency.
Is bagless automatically better?
No. It avoids replacement bags, but you still empty and clean the container. A sealed bag may be more convenient if you want less contact with collected dust. Compare the whole emptying process.
Can I put ordinary floor cleaner in the tank?
Use only the solution and dilution allowed by the appliance instructions, and check compatibility with the flooring. An unsuitable cleaner can foam, leave residue or affect components.
Our verdict
The Roborock Saros 10R is our best overall recommendation from this shortlist for its combination of low clearance, obstacle recognition, automatic mop detachment and a capable station. The checked A$1,499 offer is attractive, but confirm its pre-order timing.
Choose the ECOVACS DEEBOT X11 PRO OMNI for roller-mopping value if its A$1,299 price and dispatch estimate work for you. Choose the Dreame X50 Ultra when specific layout problems justify its much higher price.
Buy for the floors, obstacles and maintenance routine you actually have. If all you want is regular dust collection, a less expensive mapped vacuum can still be the more sensible purchase.
